Thinking of lighting a fire?

Sunday, May 26, 2019, 17:10
Although it isn't currently the fire season, you still need to notify the Queanbeyan Fire Control Centre (QFCC)  on 02 6128 0600 and your neighbours at least 24 hours prior to lighting up.

If you do not provide notification, your neighbours or someone who sees the flames or smoke may call Emergency (000) to report your fire and the local fire authority may be instructed to take action.

The QFCC is only manned Monday to Friday (business hours) so any weekend burns need to be notified well before mid-day on Friday so they are listed in the "system" and the local brigades notified.

This procedure has been in place for many years.
